Biography

Richard Jones

Known in the gardening world, as Richard 'bugman' Jones', Richard's interest in insects originated from a childhood spent exploring the South Downs and the Weald of Sussex. At only 5-years old he presented a collection of tiger moth caterpillars that he was rearing to the local Natural History Society, who were meeting at his parents' house.

Richard now writes about insects and other wildlife for a number of high-profile newspapers and magazines, including BBC Gardener's World Magazine and BBC Wildlife. He also carries out environmental survey work. Like all entomologists he's proud to be mildly eccentric.

You can read about Richard's wildlife and insect observations and musings in his weekly blog on this site.
