The Garden Museum, 26 June
The Garden Museum is a tranquil oasis situated in the heart of London. On the bustling south bank of the river Thames, its neighbours include other great attractions, lincluding Lambeth Palace and Tate Britain.
One of London's most engaging museums for gardeners, The Garden Museum captures what gardening means to people, with collections, forums, debates and archives. To mark Alan's 50th anniversary, there's an special exhibition of objects chosen by Alan himself, which reflect his long career.
A former church, the museum was set up in the 1970's to save the building from demolition. St Mary's is the burial place of John Tradescant, one of the first great gardeners and plant hunters in British history. His tomb is the centrepiece of the knot garden, and is planted with the same flowers that grew in his London garden four centuries ago.
