Can anyone help identify this "berry" tree?

Can anyone help me identify this tree. What are the berries in the photo?

    you describe them as berries, this suggests something small. How big are they?

    It is an apple. If the fruit it is small then it maybe a Crab apple, but apple it is.

  • They are small. Diameter of just bigger than a 5 pence coin.

    Agree with crab-apple.  Some trees produce berry-sized fruit.  See if you can find it here:

    Agree with crab apple.

    Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
