blueberries plant and heathers in the same pot

Hi everyone. I have planted two blueberries plants in two different big pots. As the plants are every small, I added some heathers in the same pot (all acid soil lovers). They look definitely better and they will give a splash of color during Winter.

Can anyone tell me if I made a mistake?

Maybe I should leave the blueberries on their own?

Thank you!

Hi Silvia, I think you blueberries will stay small if they are competing with heathers.

I'd agree. The blueberries will be better on their own so that they can develop to their full potential. image

Goathland on the North York's Moors is where I spent a lot of my childhood heather and Bilberries as we knew them grew well together, we harvested the bilberries and I never forgot the taste. The heather got burned off every few years and the bilberries still came. Leave them for now and pot them on alone into a bigger pot another year as I doubt they will fruit this year.

    Frank.
