Does anyone use brassica collars ? If I make my own what material is best to use.

Do you mean like mulch mats?

I  bought some scraps of lino from my local carpet store - its easy to slice with a knife and doesnt blow away. Carpet would be another idea.

I think Monty Don was using cardboard but it eventually goes soggy and disintegrates. Anything firm enough to hold its shape but not too hard to cut will do - vinyl offcuts, roofing felt, carpet, underlay, etc.

I made mine last night from sturdy cardboard that would have otherwise gone to the recycling plant. Lino sounds like an excellent idea though.
