Have you got a named variety? If not you'll have to wait and see the flowers.

  • I had self fertilizing kiwi and it has not born  any fruit at all, they do suffer if the buds are got by the frost, you have to know the variety to know if male or female.not an easy plant but it is vigorous plant and will climb everywhere.

hi and thanks for your replies. i believe the type i have is called actinidia chinensis-although i cant find the label so i still dont know if male or female!

  •  I've had a self fertile kiwi for about 15 years and although it has plenty of flowers never had fruit. Looking at the photos in nutcutlet's post it looks to be a male plant.

actinidia chinensis is the kiwi fruit but will have a cultivar name to tell you what you've got. If youask the GC where you bought it they may be able to tell you which one they had. Unlikely they'd have more than one.

The link is to RHS Plantfinder. There's a list of cultivars and you might recognize one.

from your link i believe the only one which sounds  familiar is `jenny`which would make sense as it says this one is for smaller gardens-which i would have considered when buying as i`m short on space so if it is jenny this one is self fertile which is even better!!!! thanks everyone very much!!
