We have had this disease in the past and have sprayed according to Hessayon but because of the weather this year have missed the vital time.  Now most of the tree is in blossom is there anything we can do to prevent this disease this year.

I saw a recipe for spraying with a mixture of oil, washing up liquid and water on an American gardening site. The person who used it said it worked!

Light cooking oil- Rapeseed? 5 tsp to a quart of water

Washing-up liquid 2tsp to a quart of water.

I have a bad infestation this Spring so will try this recipe.

The RHS suggest always spay at night when bees are inactive...even though this is a non-chemical solution.

Thanks for that - I will certainly give it a try.
