The lovely Stacey was so kind as to send me a selection of chilli seeds this year. Here's how they're getting on so far...

Careful... the label-us fell-off-us can be lethal....

Doing well there!!

Thanks Stacey - I'd have never even manage to germinate them without your advice! I can't wait to try again with a few I had trouble with next year.

I love the purple riot flowers - they're so beautiful!

Wow, well done Clari. Stacey if you need a deputy chilli grower I think we are looking at her

18/07/2014 at 21:03

Wow they look great Clari

18/07/2014 at 21:43

They do look excellent chillies, but don't all sit on me at once - I don't like chillies

Fantastic Clari, the flower on Purple Riot are pretty, I don't have any yet. My others look like they have little chillies but nit as far on as yours.

Do the Cherry Bomb ones have a dark but on the stem where it branches out and where fruit is forming or is someone wrong with mine?

OL I'm no chilli expert but I believe that some do have dark markings.

My chillies don't even have flowers yet. They seem a bit stunted this year.

19/07/2014 at 08:58

Mine all seem to OL - I can take a photo if you want?

Annie - Stacey had me starting mine quite early in the season (compared too for instance my tomatoes) and they've been in the greenhouse ever since. The purple riot has only just started to flower and my chilli willies (not from Stacey) that were germinated a month or so later are only just thinking about producing flower buds.

If you want to you can Clari, just so I know mine are 'normal'  I'm going to look for flowers on my Purple Riot now. Are yours all in the GH/indoors?

They're all in the greenhouse OL - with a few in the plastic greenhouse while I was meant to be tidying up the greenhouse (several weeks ago  )

Yes mine look like that, thanks Clari. I have flowers on my PR

How early is early? Should I be thinkingabout this whilst the xmas decs are still up?!

19/07/2014 at 17:11

Not quite but I'm sure she said very early February. If I get my heated greenhouse it'll be easier as your windowsill s do fill up quickly!

19/07/2014 at 17:13

My windowsills were growing with the weight (and OH was moaning!!!)

I need to get a head start next year. These ones look like they'll need to be brought in once summer is over and the greenhouse gets too cold!

Yes, I think you do Annie.  Have you seen the main chilli thread, there is loads of advice from Stacey on there, that is where we all learned to grow them so well
