hello im new to growing trees and got now an avocado, grapefruit and lemon tree. simple question cant find answer to, do i water the leaves as well or just the tree base/roots? thanks

What country are you in?

In UK these will not survive the winter outside, So I will assume they are in a pot. Just water the base of stem/roots. If you water the leaves you may get rot, or spots in high sunshine.

Citrus trees need an acidic soil (ericaceous compost)

im in israel, their outside in the ground and its very hot, yh i noticed some spots and browning of tips, so thought mayb that was cause, so only base then huh,

thnks

Not only do they need ericaceous compost, they should not be watered with water containing calcium - in the UK a lot of tap water is high in calcium.  I have no idea if water in Israel contains calcium, but you can do a test with litmus paper.

Watering citrus plants with hard water (containing calcium) can cause browning of the leaves.
