I'm growing my Boskoop Glory in the ground outside up a trellis on the side of our terrace - I'm growing it mainly for its ornamental value (those glorious red autumn leaves) and grapes will be a bonus, although Bob Flowerdew indicates that we should get a good crop most years. We only planted it last year so we'll live and learn.

BF grows vines in 25 litre containers - info here http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2005/oct/15/shopping.gardens1
