I have pulled up some carrots today and the insides are green. why is that? are they still ok to eat?

One of life's mysteries, but they are fine to eat. They usually taste a bit more carroty in the green part.
I find some go green at the top/inside if the tops are exposed to sunlight and sticking out of the soil
