I have been given a pot of golden bamboo by a friend who no longer wanted it. I notice that it is laden with seeds which I think is quite unusual, and was wondering if it would grow. Does anyone think it might be viable seed and if so what is the best way to sow it? has anyone had any success growing from seed?

If there's lots of seed save it, Sow some now and leave it outside and some in spring in warmth. I've never tried bamboo from seed but if you try all ways you could be successful. Bamboo has a reputation for dying after seeding but I don't know if that applies to all species.

Thanks for your answer, I thought I might give the seeds a try, it's no loss if nothing grows afterall. I just hope the plant doesn't die now.
