It's a good border shrub that responds well to pruning so can be kept in bounds.  I know how easy it is to be tempted in sweetie shops like Tatton Flower Show but maybe next time you should chat with the grower about eventual size and cultivation needs before succumbing to temptation.

Yep it is Diablo. I pollard mine every year to get best most colourful foliage. How much space have you allowed budlia 63 ? 5 or 6 feet will be enough. Mine grows 6 feet from hard cutting back. I grow Geranium Ann folkard in front and blue clematis behind. It's not.best foliage shrub for colour....bit brownish....but it looks good with its companions

Hi,  I did chat to lady she said it was hardy and would do well in our slightly shady border did cut it back last year and will do this to keep it in bounds the border is around 8" wide and the fence is 6" i have just been re-arranging some of its companions to give a bit of room summer/autumn colour is beautiful especially when sun shining on it have monarda  and lambs ears in front and crocosmia behind thanks
