Echinacea

Vernum, my echinacea seedlings have now grown to four leaves and a central stem with a flower bud on top. They are only about 14 inches high. I would like them to overwinter for next year, and not die off. They are in the border what can I do to safeguard them. Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Verdum, I live on the coast in devon, rarely gets any frost with a free draining sandy soil. I have ten plants one has a lovely red flower, the others are in bud. Dotted about on a slope. I will (sadly) remove flowers stems and see if they bulk up.

    Many thanks
  • Hope they get more robust, compared to the Prima Donna series I have they are quite small, but will feed with seaweed food and see how they get on.

    Thanks for all the info.
