Fatsia Japonica

Could anyone tell me when and how to prune a Fatsia Japonica

Posts

  • I used to have one - lasted many many years - I only ever cut out leggy stems and new growth seemed to appear from the base.  I pruned in summer to prevent rot getting into the stems, but I think it's one of those plants that has a limited lifespan, allbeit of ten to fifteen years.

I'm sure someone else knows the official answer!

Hi Glynbin - I have one in the garden and cut bits off as and when needed - I dont tend to do this in the winter but any other time of the year doesnt seem to affect it negatively.  Its fairly tough!
