Yes absolutely fine in large pots.
I'd use a decent compost & mix in food granules, unless you're prepared/remember to feed every couple of weeks, plus water retaining granules.
Bush varieties or trailing look fine. Vine weevils can be a pest- you would see the tell-tale leaf notches if the pot got infested.
Hardy ones can survive a reasonable winter in large, well insulated pots, but I always take cuttings of mine every year to be on the safe side. J.
