I have some hellebores in a south facing bed of clay.  Normally this is baked solid in the summer but with this wet weather could it have caused the hellebores to flower out of season?  The have had new flowers in amidst the seed heads all summer....

I think it's just one more example of plants confused by the odd summer we've had - to give you another, my rhododendron is currently trying to flower!

Caroline6 my hellebores have been flowering this summer too. I assume yours are orientalis. I cut mine back now and during October and expect them to flower again as usual , viz., late winter and spring
