hellibor dilema

HI,  I'm moving from England to Scotland in 3 weeks time.  I've a hellebore in my garden and I'd like to take it with me.  It's flowering at the moment and I thought it best to leave it as long as possible before doing anything.  I'd appreciate some advice as I'm not sure how best to deal with it.  There will not be much room for a plant with lots of foliage.  Is it possible to divide it (how do I do this) and cut the foliage  down for the journey.  Will it recover from that kind of treatment?

  • Thanks for your advice.  Yes,  I can take part of it and leave most behind.  I'll expect the 'sulks' during the summer and hopefully it will rally round for next spring.
