house plant help

I have a wonderfull huge Bird of Paradise(Estralitzia) plant in my conservatory now in flower with 2 flowers, HOW can I polinate it? really would like some seeds to try to grow more.Someone must have thought out this before...anyone?

Hi Jayne, I've grown Strelitzas for a number of years but have never grown them from seed. The seeds are like cannonballs and can be very difficult to germinate . I usually split mine as I find this to be the easier option - the only problem with using this method is that you won't get any flowers the following year but I can live with that .  Hope someone else may be able to help.
