Hi folks I don't remember planting this at all and have no idea what it is. I thought it might be Liriope but it hasn't had any flowers. It's the dark green plant behind the varigated carex.

It has the look of Carex pendula. Can you get a closer shot?

Certainly not Liriope, not sure if it is a Carex.

Just googled it Nut and it could be carex pendula but I haven't seen any of the pendulous heads on it. I'll get a closer photo when I go outside. Thanks for the help
Just found this photo taken in the summer, it's a closer shot.
It's the dark green plant on the left.
Looks like Carex pendula to me, but could be some other carex. Carex have a triangular profile with a ridge down the back. Have a feel tomorrow

It has got that triangular shape Nut so I am sure you are right (you usually are) I just can't remember planting it. I have a few Carex in the garden but they are all variagated.
Variegated carex probably seed to green. They're not likely to seed true. Which ones have you got?

I don't know the species forms well enough to ID, the seedling is much broader in leaf than the variegated one in the photo. The green versions always look (and are) more robust. Still looks too much like C. pendula to me
I like Carex pendula, in my 2 acre wildlife haven it's lovely. In a normal garden it isn't
