Tumbling Tom does very well in baskets. This was 3 plants in a 15" basket.
These trailing fuschia were spectacular. I think they were called Wedding Day
Little-ann thank you they are 14" easyfill baskets with16 plants- but with a traditional basket I just put 3/4 plants in the top.
I have the easy fill hanging baskets but not sure what to grow in them, I did antirrhinums/ snap dragons last year in top and still doing well, but want ideas for the trailing plants
hi everybody doing hanging baskes for years, try 14/16 inch baskets for really decent display.here are some tips i use and they work every time.1,use the base of a baby nappy pampers etc, they dont halve soak up the water ? and let it out slowly to the plants .saves having to water less often and less over spill in the basket. in the base od the basket with the first scoop of peat use a hand full of chicken manure organic pellets ,feeds roots for 3/4 months ,saves having to feed with liquid feeds, and bye the way if u are using liquid feeds, leve the last feed afetr watering otherwise u run the risk of washing out the liqud feed if u put it in first. only do most of the watering late at night ,less evapouration, and finally eith the very first watering u give your baskets, place 3 or 4 drops washing up liquid within a point of water and mix, then pour over the peat, this will help later on because the washing up liquid will draw the watr into the baskets and u will end up with less run off.
2012 being a Jubilee year I ordered Jubilee Petunias and had a cracking display in all 3 of my baskets . They were all plug plants and left to mature in the baskets until the end of june. The smallest one just fitted into the boot of my car to enter various local flower show durinf August and september. First prize each time.
Here are the baskets at the front of my home.
Wow James how wonderful they look. Also your other plants
James, your house is so neat, it hardly looks real. Well done.
