Moving plants

I am moving house shortly and would like to know the best way to transport my Acanthus and whether it will harm my Dahlias to cut them down and lift them now so that they are dried ready to be transported.

Ideally Dahlias are lifted when the first frosts see them off. I don'think it will make a lot of difference lifting them now. Obviously dry them off for a week  or two . And either store them during the winter in peat free compost. In a a cool dark place.

Or wrap them up in newspaper and pck em up in cardboard boxes.
