New Years Day flower count - Page 2

 Hello, only this two flower from nutcutlets list I have all the month:cyclamen and mahonia-siamensis, I'll look for more...ThaiGer.

But I'll bet you've got a lot that aren't on my list ThaiGer. 

 I think so, but many veggies, if you have in your garden: cucumber, pumpkin, cabbage...not now, but in the spring., greetings, ThaiGer.

I forgot, can you look at the thread "mystery plant"?

Finally manged to get outside today. Not much to report, lots of buds on ribes, forsythia, shrubby potentilla, etc.  Quite a lot of bulbs of all types just poking through.

The only things out are a variegated lamium, various primulas, some violas,& the japonica buds are trying very hard!  There's aslo a hebe, don't know what type, it's in a pot & white with the tiniest hint of purple on the flowers which have been out for months.

Unfortunately the winter-flowering jasmine isn't!

I got garden news paper and in it Clare Foggett the editor does a new years day flower count, things in flower are coronilla valentina glauca,geranium 'bill wallis', anthemis 'sauce hollandaise' erysimum 'bowles's mauve', cream and mauve bedding violas and the buds of viburnum bodnantense 'dawn' are very close to opening. she said there were more flowers last year even though she has added more to the garden.

Have not heard about the flower count till being on GW forum

We've done it here for years. It's varied between 50-60 species (if there hasn't been any frost up til then) and none at all (or can't see them for snow).

Not heard of it either before, but will adopt it from now on.
