Patio Pear
Last year I bought a patio pear tree and didn't expect it to fruit but I have great hopes for this year. The leaves look really healthy. Should I thin out some branches or cut them back a bit or is this not the time to do it ?? Please help this novice fruit grower. I also have a patio plum and apple so advice on them all would be much appreciated.

Paddy, young (until they are about 5 years old) apple and pear trees are pruned in winter when they are dormant - see RHS advice here:
https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=164
when they are older you switch to summer pruning to keep them to the size you want.
Plums are treated differently:

Thank you will have a look at these links
