The first might be caryopteris. Is there any more info available?

Flowers would be blue and the shrub small.

I think Edd is right with the second

That's quince as in chaenomeles, a flowering shrub not Cydonia a fruit tree.

    Still edible though

Where are you Newbee, we need to know if you've got a little blue shrub or a tall yellow flowered perennialimage

  • i think the second is a chaenomeles Japanese Quince. not sure about number one could be a caryopteris or a Perovskia depends on the flower.

  • The second one is Chaenomeles Apple Blossom, I believe. Flowering very early this year, in the mild south west.
  • The first one is definitely a shrub, you can see the woody parts to the right of the photo. I'd agree with Caryopteris.

  • Sorry for the delay in answering nutcutlet question.

Plant 1 is a flowering shrub, fully covered with little white flowers. Not blue or yellow.

    Next questions.

Is there any scent to the leaves?

At what time of year are the flowers and are they scented?

What are the flowers like? daisy shape, tubular, fluffy, in clusters or singly?

How big is the shrub? Are we seeing a tiny piece of something big?

and have you got another photo

Could 1 be one of the spirea's?

  • The first shrub looks like sarcocca which has fragrant white winter flowers.

Sarcococca has dark green, smooth edged, shiny leaves.

This has greyish, serrated leaves. I think there's a flower in the pic but when Iblow it up it goes blurred. Might not be a flower, just a white blob of something.

A pic of a flower would help ID and any other available info.
