Hello all, if you could name the following I'd be very grateful.

3 x Dahlia's but what are the varieties?

Purely by chance I just found that no.2 is Acanthus Spinosus http://www.gardenersworld.com/plants/acanthus-spinosus/3176.html

The last one looks like Purple Toadflax? I would suggest that the dahlias may just be bedding dahlias and may never have been named.

Thanks Kate, you're right with Toadflax, I remember now.

I'd not heard of bedding dahlias before, will they grow much bigger do you think? I suppose they are about 25cm tall right now in flower. However they were in pots until recently and could have been for some time.

Thanks again

Number 3 looks like a Sidalcea I think. Number 4 looks like a Stinking Hellebore-Helleborus foetidus. Number 5...I have it in my garden or should have but it certainly isn't flowering yet.... it is Purple Toadflax-Linaria purpurea.

Hi Nola,

Thank you very much, no.3 is definately Sildalcea and No.4 could well be a Hellebore although I'm not toally sure, I'll watch to see what it does.

Appreciate your observations.
