    Looks rather like one of the amaranthus family. If it flowers it would be easier to identify.

    Looking at the small emerging flowers I think that Bob is correct in his identification.

     I agree. I've got one and it's called Thalia !  Lovely long narrow flowers, not the usual blouse-y ballerina shape, and one colour throughout -  bright orange/red.
