Rosa: Oakington Ruby

Julie54Julie54 Posts: 4

I am trying to discover if the miniature rose 'Oakington Ruby' is still available. This rose was popular in the 1950's and 60's. Vita Sackville-West recommended them for alpine gardens. It was discovered by Blooms in 1933. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Jason Bloom is carrying on the family tradition. He has a nursery at Bressingham.

It is possible that they may have one in cultivation and may be able to propagate it for you.

  • Hi Julie54,
I was just doing a little research on this beloved Oakington Ruby and came across this post.  Have you located one for your garden?  If not, I have many in my inventory here at Rogue Valley Roses in Southern Oregon.  I would love to help you get one if you are still on the lookout.  We carry many old, hard to find, antique heirloom roses.  You can browse our inventory at www.roguevalleyroses.com.  Happy gardening!
