I've got one started in almost total shade now. I don't know if the paeonies like shade but the flowers last longer. I'm expecting that to flower next year. I had dozens of flowers on the big molly but she just doesn't make many fertile seeds. It's always like that, years now, so can't blame the weather. What I do get germinate though

I have heared that peony dont like the morning sun,but i dont know if that is true or not.

I think that is true Diddy. To do with rapid thaw of frozen buds early in the season

I have just acquired some Chile black scabious, silvery sea holly(not wilmots ghost) and white cosmos.

It is good to look after people's gardens whilst they are on holiday

01/09/2013 at 19:38

Diddydoit4u I have PM you my address and seeds wanted thanks

01/09/2013 at 20:37

I sent you a message the other day saying which of your seeds I'd like. I think I am going to be busy next year with all these seeds.

The problem with collecting seeds off plants that you haven't grown,is that you are unsure of how to grow them. I imagine the Chile black are sown like other scabious.

01/09/2013 at 20:43

chile black germinate any time cotty. My problem was keeping them not gernminating them. I should have kept more of an eye on how they were going.

Paeonia mlokosewitchsii (molly the witch) showing flower and  open seed pods.

02/09/2013 at 09:09

sometimes it,s nice not knowing what they are,not knowing is part of the fun.I can understand if you have regimental borders,how-ever you could keep a seed chart and just google the info for the seeds.

Fidgetbones, what are the orange ones in your photo, and can i have some seeds from it please!!!!!!!!.

02/09/2013 at 09:14

I have Nigella papillosa (big seed heads) if anyone wants to to save seed.

Also an unnamed salvia? , that is bone hardy perennial, rosettes of hairy leaves, spikes of whorls of lavender blue flowers that the bees love. will flower from june to september with deadheading. Originally grown from RHS seed but I lost the label.

all those Molly seeds fidgetbones

I'd be embarassed to post a picture of my (non)seed heads

I think you mean the Euphorbia griffithii  fireglow, diddy. I just dug a load out. I never get seed off this. You can have a chunk of root when it dies down. It does tend to spread though. The leaves turn red in Autumn.

02/09/2013 at 11:12

I woold love a root from it,and i will keep it cotainered.
