Sowing Poppy Seeds

YviehYvieh Posts: 85

Hi Everyone,

I want to grow some Poppies over my tulips when the die back.  Do I just scrape back the composted bark, sprinkle the seeds and replace the bark?  On Friday's GW, Monty just threw seeds into the Jewel Garden on top of the compost/mulch.  Any tips would be greatly appreciated as I've never had much luck growing these grogeous flowers. Thank you.

No, if you cover thye seed as you describe they won't germinate.

Pull back the bark, rake the gtround lightly, sow the seeds, rake very lightly again and leave the bark off. You'll also need to make sure that the surface of the soil stays damp until they germinate.

Damp soil, not a problem here! image Great, thanks Alina, I'll do just that.   Fingers crossed!
