Sweet William

Hello. I am wondering if my sweet William plant is a perennial. I have read that it is biennial and self seeds to produce more plants. My existing plant has been with me for nearly 3 years and is looking really healthy. It has flowered for the past 2 years and so should I expect flowers this time too. I have always removed flower heads when over so it hasn't been allowed to self seed. Any advice would be much appreciated.

My Mum used to call them a bit of both. Hers didn't come back but self-seeded and lived on. I think technically they're biennials.

I've left mine over the last few years and found that they will last three years before becoming too sad to keep - so I suppose they're strictly a short-lived perennial.

Ok thank you. I may get a few flowers this year then and I will let them seed around after which I will discard them.
