I have a Acer that has out grown its pot but I don't want to get a bigger pot as I only have a small garden and do not have room for a bigger pot. Can I take the acre out and trim the roots back and then put it back in the same pot if so when would be the best time. Many many thank  janet . ❤️

Yes, I did it last year before the leaves opened.  Sawed off about 12 inches from the bottom and repotted in fresh compost and gave a liquid feed. It was better last year than it had been for a few years and is looking good again this year. Mine is a dissectum acer.
