I have lots of small plants along side the more mature ones. When is the best time to pot these up to grow on ready to put in my daughters garden in the spring?

Or is it best to leave them where they are and transplant them in the spring?

I'd pot them up. They're not 101% hardy and if we get a long, cold, wet winter you may not have them come spring

I've got a couple in the bean patch. I'm going to cut them down to 6 inches and put 3 to a 6 inch pot ans overwinter in the greenhouse.
