The nuts are on the verge of readiness and I still have a healthy crop so far despite the best efforts of the grey rodents with bushy tails.....

Lat year wasnt so good as the trees need a warm summer but this year its bountiful.  I pickled some earlier just in case but with a bit of luck there will be some fully ripe specimens for later.

Who else has walnuts and what stage are they?  I'm in Wiltshire so we'll have more rain and wind soon to knock em all off the tree. Anyone else have a walnut crop on the way?

Green with envy - don't have a single one - but then we don't have a walnut tree so it would be expecting a bit much to hope for a crop.

I've already purchased some jars of pickled walnuts and they're hidden away from everyone (me mainly) until Christmas.  There was time when I had access to walnut trees, my own and those of neighbours .... memories

I seem to remember it was the crows that did the thieving of unripe walnuts back then.

The tree at the Weald & Downland museum in Sussex has lots of walnuts on it.
