watch out, watch out ……..

Although we have been plagued with the red devils for years on the lilies, this is the first year I have found them on the fritillaries.  I know they do like them too, after all, they are the same family - but until now the frits have been spared - but no longer.  So, all you lily beetle hunters out there, get out the tea strainers and start hunting!

I have been lucky in not having these pests: but the slugs and vine weevils make up for their absence.

We have plentiful slugs too and other pests too - but at least they are native, I hate the lily beetles as much for the fact that someone carelessly imported them without bothering to know what they would do, as for the damage they do.  Nothing here eats them, and they eat such alot - especially if you are a lily lover as we are.
