Anyone have any experience of growing this plant? I have a new boggy area beside my pond and wondered if its easy to grow

Geum rivale is Water avens.

There are various forms of it, G.r. snowflake is obviously white and G.r. Leonard's Var. is a double red. G.r. Lemon Drop is a nice pale yellow. Dead easy in damp soil. Need to assiduously dead head or the can seed around and the seed heads do cling to clothes rather badly.

Many thanks Berghill - the one I've seen online is a reddish flower, must be the wild variety? I thought it looked nice but was concerned it might be thuggish since its close relative Wood Avens is invasive. I hear they hybridise readily too.

If you keep it dead headed then they are not root invasive like some things. They will seed around and yes they are promiscuous, so there are lots of new named things around. Many of them not much different from each other.

You really are too kind Lyn - but only if you insist

Pity you don't live near me, you could have plants of various forms of G. rivale for the asking.
