Weed or not a weed

SwedboySwedboy Posts: 394

Just spotted these two small plants in my border (after a long winter of neglect..) They are circled in red. Are they weeds or something else. The one to the right look a bit like basil but no way it is that. Any ideas?

The one just to the L of centre looks  like Centaurea montana,

Tetley, it does look like vinca which I rue that I introduced into my garden but the leaves are not rubbery.

Nutcutlet I think you might be right. I have taken seeds of that last year and planted them but totally forgotten about it.

There's a cowslip and a strawberry as well - nice varied patch!

The right-hand circled plant is not Vinca, the leaf edge is serrated. Looks a bit like a willowherb?

The whole patch is a mix of wild strawberries, Greek oregano and creeping buttercups plus the odd thing I've actually planted. The left one sadly looks more like willowherb. I rather it would be what nutcutlet suggested.

The creeping buttercups will be a nightmare if not lifted asap
