Hi all, anyone got any suggestions of flowers that I can sow now-ish for flowering in the autumn / winter - other than the usual pansy and violas

if you sow quick annuals now Lee they'll flower for autumn. otherwise not a lot flowers in winter anyway and nothing that you can sow now. there are some nice winter flowering shrubs and cyclamen and early bulbs that can be grown from seed but it's a longer term project

Probably not quite what you had in mind, but it might be worth checking out ornamental mustards...some have very decorative red leaves, and survive all but the harshest conditions...and you can eat them. Red Russian kale, in fact most of the kales, are quite attractive too, and edible.
