Woodland plant id's please

Peanuts3Peanuts3 Posts: 759

Looking in my woody area I'm trying to figure what else I need to get under control

1) It seems these are taking over where the alkanet was taken out.  Should I try and clear these now as well and what are they please ?

 2) This kind of looks like a cross between mint and a nettle ? Is it cat mint ?

3) Haven't a clue on this one.

5) Sorry last one

Goodness I thought the woodland area would be easy, but it just seems a mass of weeds.  Need to sow that campion and see if that takes off, would much rather that than this lot.

Thanks with any help you can give.

1 has stinging nettles and geum urbanum, wood avens. Both prolific seeders and not too much decorative value

    2. test for smell, might lemon balm

3 one of the willow herbs, not rosebay, outimage

    4 violets, goodies

5, one of the vetches, I don't know them well enough to ID without flowers but might be very pretty

    1. stinging nettle, little yellow flower is herb benedict/wood avens

    2. a dead nettle of some sort

    3. greater willow herb

    4. some sort of violet or could be young garlic mustard/jack by the hedge

    5. some sort of vetch (pea/clover family)
