Crikey, I looked up and realised I'd been here all morning so far and learnt something else today, even when you can't get out in the garden these forums give you a gardening lift, better get some jobs done now before the OH comes home and rants about 'plant porn' again lol

Hehehe, 'plant porn' I get exactly the same from my OH lol. I found some Astrantia Major seeds that I found in my seed collection that I had been given by my sister and had totally forgotten about Only 4 but still enough to get a plant I hope. I have planted them today and recorded the date so I can note down how long they take to peak through the surface

Hi, i left 4 pots of Astrantias in the greenhouse since November last year. I had bought them from a nursery, then we had all that snow and i completely forgot about them, they had a little bit of water, i don"t know whether they are dead, or what is best to do with them, shall i pop them into the garden now? There is also a Maple tree ... any suggestions?

hi everyone.. i  have tried many times to grow from seed.. each time trying different times etc.. with no success.

well this time i have manged it.. i harvested the seeds from my plants and then dried them out for little while..then sowed them.. i left them for 6 weeks in green house over autumn and then outside during the winter.. then back in the greenhouse end of feb.. and i now have 10 small plants and more coming through.. they come through at varying times.. so dont throw away... and every 4 weeks i go round and rough up the compost and add thin layer of fresh..

i have a white one.. dont know the name and a unknown colour as seeds were form plant in garden i visited and couldnt remember when i got home..

i am naughty but i always take a handful of paper bags with me when i go round gardens for seed heads.
