Hi all,
I have recently found two of these, dead as dodos, one on a fuchia
and another in a hosta pot. Does anyone know what it is (I'm
guessing it's some sort of weevil) and should I be worried?
These photos are all of the same one, I didn't photograph the other one.
Best pics I could get. Warning: extreme close-up!
Thanks loads, Mel

Forgot to say, it was about 3mm long.
You need to check in the pots for the larvae as they might be eating the roots right now
Yikes. Just found a live one under a Salvia pot.
Also found these eggs under the leaves of the plant which according to t'internet, look like vine weevil eggs. Nooo! Oh dear, best get on with some treatment. Any handy tips anyone?
Thanks pepes. x
I don't think those are vine weevil eggs as they are laid in the soil. They look more like caterpillar eggs. You can get a treatment for vine weevil that you water the pots with, it's active against the larva. There are several brands available so you now have an excuse to visit the garden centre
Urghhhhh......itching like mad now but glad I know what they look like and glad I wasn't eating my tea
That what Edd?? Boy you must have good eye sight, I can't see anything only eggs
That tiny spider? Huge eggs for that tiny spider!
Thanks all for your help. Will be off to get a treatment tomorrow.
Apparently they particularly like containers and my little yard is
almost all containers!
