How do I stop my pumkins from taking over my plot and even the next door one. Do I cut the runners down or just direct them where I want to go?
Steer them where you want them to go or grow them up supports, or both
Pumpkin plants should be stopped, when you have at least 2 fruits setting/swelling per plant. Just cut the end off, by doing this your ensuring the plants energy is towards producing good size fruit and not foliage growth. Sometimes you may find that side shoots form - cut these off too. Feeding the plant once a week with a liquid tomato feed is recommended

Theory has it that the side shoots that develop after removing the growing tip will bear female flowers.
