Crocus flowers not opening - Problem solving

I have some lovely yellow bronze coloured crocuses but for some reason the flowers don't open and after some days the stalk withers and the flower dies. They are in pots. The big purple ones in the border for ones aren't keeling over and seem to do ok and they usually just flop. Any reason for this?

Crocus will only show their faces if the sun is shining on them. They close up when its dull or night time

Not seeing much of mine this year. But the sun is out today (between the snow showers probably) so maybe I'll get to see some

But that doesn't explain why the flowers seems to just wilt away without opening at all. It seems like they cant open full stop.

I've had a few flowers that have behaved the way you describe, I do think it's due to lack of sun

If they don't get a chance to open they don't last any longer than if they do.

I haven't got many. I think they get eaten. The best are in pots.

Still why wouldn't they open. They get quite a lot of sunlight in late morning. Think ithas been enough light for them to open.

It's cold, it's dull - they just don't like it and, as nucutlet says, each flower has only a limited lifespan.

I have some beautiful white ones that are just ready and waiting for the sun, they remind me of little parachutes or balloons. Hope we get some sunshine soon.
