Hi Everyone
Just purchased a cupressus macrocarpa 'wilma'. Would like to put in a large planter but unsure what soil/compost to put in the planter. Also what can i put in the bottom of the planter to give it some weight so it wont blow over in the wind.
Any advice will be great!

i would put some large size gravel or a couple of bricks in the bottom. Soil as the tree will be in there for some time John Innes no3 - a soil based compost would be good. You will need to renew the top 10+cm of compost with fresh annually and add fertiliser as the plant will rely on you for all its nutrients.
Thanks thats great.
