Dead patches on lawn

image

Please tell me what is causing this and what can be done. Did a feed and weed recently and grass quite green around these patches which have been developing over couple of years.

    Have you got a dog?

Compaction / lack of sufficient top soil in those areas?

Doesn't look like a dog pee problem to me.

  • MaisieM- No dog but there are a lot of cats in the area, If you are thinking animal pee would it burn right down to the undersoil?. Thanks for reply.

Dave Humby- No one walks on the grass really but it does seem that there isn't any soil left at all on the patches. Could I try soil and reseeding?

Do you have leatherjackets in the soil?

It looks like the patches on my lawn, that I've blamed on the dogs! I'll be interested to see other replies now though!
