Dying Wisteria

Our 6 year old wisteria (the spread of which covers one side of the garage) is usually beautiful and healthy looking but it bloomed very poorly in May and now half of the vines, all on one side, have died. We're not sure whether to take out all the dead vines or leave it and hope it will spring back to life. Any advice would be much appreciated.

my wisteria did that in 2011.  i chose to leave it alone and do nothing and low and behold it made 6 flowers this year.
