Any suggestions please for a flowering tree (cherry type or similar) for a shady spot?  We have a lightly wooded area at the back of our garden (beyond our fence) and would like to plant a specimen tree in front of it.  Max height about 8 metres x 5 metres spread.  Soil type neutral/acid and dryish.  Have looked at some Cercis and Prunus types but all seem to need full sun.

Rhododendrum grow well in shade, and like acid soil! Acer?

white, black or red spruce, magnolia grandiflora, red mulberry, acers, sweet birch, persimmonn, american birch....
