Geranium maculatum Beth Chatto - Problem solving

Can anyone tell me if geranium Beth Chatto is summer dormant. It flowered earlier in the year and then lost all its leaves. It is planted light shade in good soil.

I'm not aware of any summer dormant geraniums and maculatum varieties are summer flowering. Maybe it needs more shade but it also needs good moisture. Does it get dry there? Even now, I would move some soil away from the base and make a recess and fill with water. Do,it few times to saturate the soil and then mulch

Dont think shade a problem but will check water situation. The weather here in Devon has been very dry. Thanks for advice.

I mention shade mainly because of the moisture factor. I think water is the issue butterflybrain. Why has everyone got brilliant,forum "handles"? If I thought about it properly I. Could have chosen something more inspiring!
