Currently having a problem greenfly and whitefly on my tomato plants. They have recently been sprayed. Helped to kill off a little but still a fair few to many left. I've been advised to spray every three days for a period. I've also been advised on some smoke bomb type method. I'm unsure to what this really is and if it is beneficial or going to do more damage. Advise wanted please ... Thanks Natasha
What are you spraying with - you need to be careful what you spray on your edible plants. I must say I've never had a problem with greenfly on tomatoes -
I understand that whitefly have become immune to most available treatments, and that the best thing to do is to purchase encarsia wasps which will prey on your whitefly.
Don't use them myself but I understood smoke bombs etc were for cleaning out the greenhouse when it's empty - not for use on plants.
I have both green and white on mine. More so white then green. I can't remember the name now off the top of my head. I asked someone I knew before hand who's got more experience as a grower and they said it was fine. It's caused my leaves to curl though. I'm new to all the growing so its all learning. Where can I purchase the wasps, have you any idea? I've found that other garlic type smoke one is for use when plants are in there as the sulphate ones are for when cleaning out. thanks

I have been spraying mine daily with a mild wash of soapy water. It's worked so far.
make a soapy solution with a hand wash, spray the aphids soaking them completely.Prune back wherever possible to reduce their numbers.Do this twice a week until their numbers are reduced, then once a week.Over fertilizing may have created this try a slow release organic feed.GOOD LUCK
