Could it be that the flower was pulled off too quickly?  This courgette plant is in a pot and the others courgettes are coming on nicely. This is a golden courgette.

If not the flower, what else is it likely to be?

The first couple of courgettes on my plants were similar, I just picked them off and next lot are doing great, eaten two this evening. I give mine a tomato feed once a week.

One of the other courgettes on the same plant is lovely and fat and going a lovely golden colour so I'll keep my fingers crossed.  Thanks for replies.
